Welcome to our website! At Sourdough Goldens of Alaska, we have taken something which started as a family love for a single dog to a strong passion for the breed. We breed our puppies to have friendly dispositions and to fit in seamlessly as incredible family pets. Our family’s love for Goldens started with my mom when she was a little girl, and now we breed the best dogs out there! We specialize in the European Style Golden Retriever; with imported lineage from Europe. We strive to breed healthy, happy, confident, loyal, smart, and beautiful Golden Retriever puppies. We do this through hard work and dedication to our dogs and their future offspring. Each and every pedigree, family health and history, coefficient of inbreeding…etc. is thoroughly researched, with every litter planned for a reason. We can’t come up with enough positive words to describe what a Golden Retriever truly is! Each and every puppy brought into this world by our program, is socialized with humans of all ages, including, toddlers, kids, and teens; along with our other “big dogs” around the house. They are also exposed to various sounds and textures so they are ready for the world and what it brings. Our puppies will go through ENS(early neurological stimulation), ESI(early scent introduction) along with quality socialization, exposure to different sounds, textures, home environments etc… We do all of this to get your puppy started right and to help them feel confident and happy in their new home. At Sourdough Goldens of Alaska, we continue to care about our puppies long after they leave us. To make sure our fur babies get the forever home they deserve, we carefully interview and screen all potential owners. Before being placed on the reservation list we will send you a series of questions to see if your lifestyle and people would be a good fit for one of our puppies! Upon the birth of a litter we will contact everybody on our reservation list and our extended waitlist to announce the genders and amount of puppies in the litter. We reserve the right to keep 1st and sometimes 2nd pick of every litter. This is so we can grow our program and to possibly share with other reputable breeders. Luna Lovegood- Now retired
Luna is a beautiful female golden retriever that we hold very dearly in our hearts! She has a wonderfully calm disposition that is complimented by her love of water and playing with all the kiddos outside! She will make the most beautiful babies with the best personalities and temperaments. Perfect for therapy or service work! Luna’s mom was imported from an amazing show kennel in Serbia and Luna’s dad coming from 2 imported parents from The Netherlands and Australia! Her pedigree is full of amazing kennels with most dogs being champions of their countries and many Crufts qualifiers. Luna loves everybody and everything and is unfazed by new environments and people.
Luna is retiring after her May 2024 litter.
“Gustaf”
Look how handsome this big boy is! He is our one and only stud here at Sourdough Goldens and is such a riot! He follows his favorite people around the house (literally everybody) and gives “hugs” to those he especially likes. He has the puppy personality with a big adult body. He is well built, stocky, with nice muscling and the biggest head you ever did see! He needs room for his big smart brain;) He carries many world renowned kennels and lines from Europe with many dogs being shown and champions in the show ring! His 4th generation includes lines from Spain, Norway, Russia and the Netherlands! We are over the moon with this guy! Gus is genetically tested and is completely clear on ALL panels! If you would like to use him as a stud, reach out!
He is around 75-80lbs and is just about 24 in tall at the back.
Gustaf is now “Goose” and retired with our Daughter. We will be using outside studs for our remaining girls with completed health testing on all of our dogs following our last 2024 litter.
Linnea
Meet Linnea!!! Linnea comes from an International Grand Champion Mother and a National Champion Sire. Her Paternal Grandparents were imported from Serbia and Hungary. She is around 65 pounds and is oh so gorgeous! She is a sweet girl with lots of love and can’t help cuddling when there’s an open lap to lay in. Kiddos are her best friends! Linnea is sooooo blocky and we love her head and expression! She loves to play with our litters of pups and doesn’t mind being a chew toy every once in a while for the teething babes while also teaching safe play. She’s so gentle and kind with everybody and tends to observe before she participates. She’s an old soul with appropriate amounts of energy and is happy to just hangout with her people; Though she does have quite the adventurous side!
Linnea’s 3rd litter is planned for 2025- sire pending.

**We do not crate train our dogs but do recommend it as it can be helpful to those who work during the day or don’t want a puppy taking over their bed at night(something our dogs are VERY guilty of)🙈

Luna’s September 2022 Litter
puppy update: 11/21/22
LUNA HAD HER BABIES ON LABOR DAY! She gave birth to 7 beautiful girls and 3 handsome boys! Man oh man are they sweet! We are contacting everybody as we speak! Puppy updates are on our Facebook page, “sourdough Goldens of alaska”. Follow for puppy fun!
We currently have ONE female AVAILABLE. She is 11 weeks old and started in basic training and going potty outside! Please contact me for more information!
Some other news about the Shoop fam~ we are officially relocating to Seward, Alaska, on 5 acres in the mountains! There, we will start our long dreamed of homestead!🥰 We even have our very own waterfall(HOW COOL IS THAT?!)I will be contacting everybody on our list to make sure nobody misses the news. If you don’t hear from me for a few days, don’t fret! I’m trying my best between all the busy work! Feel free to call or text me and I’m happy to talk! Sweet Luna has been so good throughout this whole process and we are so proud of her. She really is our dream girl and we love her so very much.

Disclaimer: because of the amount of people reaching out for puppies, we recommend getting on our waitlist quickly. The Covid-19 pandemic “years” seem to have brought on lots of demand for well bred puppies. We request that you fill out any of the “contact forms” and give us 1-3 days to respond.
Once Luna has given birth and we confirm all pups are doing well, we will take $500 deposits to hold your puppy in the order you joined our waitlist. Any left over spots are on a first come, first serve basis(after being approved of course). These deposits are NON REFUNDABLE, however, they are transferable to any future litters. Choosing day will be the day(or the days following) the puppies turning 6 weeks and pickup day will be at 8 weeks.

What is the price of a puppy and what does it include?
Our puppy price is $2500-2800 depending on the litter.
This includes:AKC Paperwork(Limited)-the puppy’s first shot-a microchip-socialization with people of all ages(including babies ,toddlers, and teens) along with large dogs-ENS(early neurological stimulation) -temperament and personality evaluation-noise and surface socialization and exposure(to help your puppy be confident and happy in a home setting and to prepare them for the world)-health and hip warranty-AND raised with lots of love and care🤍🤗✨
How much are deposits?
Deposits are $500. These deposits hold your puppy and puppy pick spot for your chosen litter/mama. We take these deposits so we know that you are serious and invested in this puppy as much as we are.
Are deposits refundable?
We do not refund deposits. This is so we can continue to pay for the countless vet bills, health tests, prenatal care…etc. for our wonderful Golden Retrievers. In addition to this, by receiving a deposit, other families and individuals looking for a puppy are then turned away.
How long do Golden Retrievers live?
On average, Golden Retrievers live 10-12 years. We have very healthy bloodlines in our small program and are proud to say that our Goldens come from many long lived dogs.
How big do your Golden Retrievers get?
Our Golden Retrievers can be expected to reach 55-80 pounds with males being on the larger end of the scale. We can also expect them to be 20-24inches tall at the shoulder.
How often do Golden Retrievers need to be groomed and brushed?
Golden Retrievers need to be properly groomed a minimum of every 4-8 weeks. This is to keep their fur and skin healthy and balanced. We recommend brushing your Golden at least once a week to keep up with shedding and to spread their natural oils. Nails need to be trimmed often to keep their paws and posture healthy. Nails that are too long cause them to slip and can cause them to walk uncomfortably.
